Blockchain has arrived to revolutionize not only the private sector but also the public sector.
This is demonstrated by the new Reference Guide for the adoption and implementation of blockchain technology projects in the Colombian state, issued by the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (Mintic).
Its purpose is to provide input and tools for public entities to understand what blockchain is, what it is for, and how it can be implemented in the digital transformation of the Colombian State. Thus, the aforementioned document presents the guidelines that public entities must apply for the development of blockchain projects in public management.
In this way, this technology promotes public innovation, as it is a tool that facilitates auditing by control bodies, improves transparency in entity processes, and streamlines the provision of services by the State.
The foregoing will undoubtedly have a direct impact on the well-being of citizens, given that, by virtue of this disruptive technology, which has a blockchain that allows data to be recorded and published without the need for intermediaries to centralize information, citizens can feel greater confidence in the transparency of public processes. As Cuadro Legal, a law firm that champions technology and avant-garde practices, our commercial attorneys in Medellín and Bogotá are already up-to-date on everything related to blockchain and all matters concerning cybercrimes or IT needs.
Furthermore, as the aforementioned guide explains, blockchain can be used in sectors where citizens must keep records of information, or systems must validate information in real time, also in digital certification, or in smart contracts for the allocation of subsidies and transfers of public resources, among other processes.
Finally, it is worth noting that several pilot projects have already been carried out in Colombia to develop this technology. In 2018, through an initiative of the National Land Agency and the National University of Colombia, with the support of ViveLab Bogotá, Colciencias, and the Ministry of ICT, a prototype was developed to assist in the land adjudication process, in compliance with restitution judgments.
Remember that Cuadro Legal, a Law Firm, is capable of resolving your legal concerns related to technology or cybercrimes.
